Photoshop is driving you up the wall? Here are 15 simple tips to make using Photoshop easier.

1. When working in a color image, Use the Paint Brush tool to selectively "paint away" from color to black and white. You can have a portion of the image really stand out. In the color palette Brush Options, change the blend mode to color and paint away the color

2. When using the wand tool you can press your turn to add more to the selection, or press the Alt to remove the selection.

3. If you have lots of images to display, use the image gallery Photoshop to create a web page thumbnail images that are for you. File> Automate> Web Gallery of Images

4. Double-click the 'T' in a text layer in the Layers palette to automatically select the entire text layer. There are at least two ways to switch between the various units Photoshop as shown.

5. One is the change in their preferences, go to the Photoshop menu and select Preferences in the Units & Rulers (in Photoshop 7 under Mac OS 9, Preferences is located in the Edit menu). From here you can change the ruler units and click OK.

6. The second way is open Info Palette (go to the Window menu and choose Info) and click the small triangle next to the cross in the left lower quadrant. This will open a menu allowing you to change the units on the fly.

7. To cycle through different display modes, simply press the F key

8. Can select only the pixels and not the area of transparency of the layer holding the Cmd / Ctrl key and mouse click on that layer in the Layers palette.

9. Do you have a layer style you like to use a lot? You can save that layer style as a style to be displayed in your style palette. In the blending options, just below OK and Cancel will 'save the style'. Name and save it. Here are the new style in the style palette. Note: the style is be in its own layer.

10. Sometimes, when you combine multiple images, there will be some margin around the edges of the composite images. You can often hide this by going to layers> Rugs> Defringe. In the dialog box, choose the default settings, but that does not work, undo, and try to Defringe again a value of 2.

11. Have too many layers? Simply select the right layer, using the Move tool (V) Click the mouse on the layer and a drop down list appears. Alternatively, you can put your layers in layer sets. In the bottom of the layers palette, click Create New Layer Set (looks like a folder), name of new layer set, and just drag the layers you like in that set. Ideal for dealing with a set too. Highlight right mouse button and copied.

12. To change between Photoshop and ImageReady, press Shift-Command-M (Mac) / Shift-Control-F (PC).

13. To access the Save for Web dialog quickly, press Shift-Command-Option-S (Mac) / Shift-Control-Alt-S (PC).

14. If you want to duplicate the layer present, press Cmd / Ctrl J.

15. To open the Extract dialog box, press Command-Option-X (Mac) / Ctrl-Alt-X (PC). In the dialog box Extract Extract switch to Edge Highlighter tool to press the letter "b", the fill tool to press the letter "K", and resize Brush the edge highlighter for the conclusion of] to make it bigger and [to make it smaller.
