photoshop how to replace color

How do I replace color with Adobe Photoshop?
I'm trying to change a layer that is completely black graphic to be completely yellow. I have tried to Enhance / Adjust Color / replace the function of color, but only I get to switch to a grayscale (I still can not paint color cube pieces yellow on the chart very well). Does anyone know what the problem? How can I get the thing to change color? Thank you.
In the layers panel, make click the little button on the bottom that has the symbol ƒX it. Then in the dialog box that appears, check the box next to "Overlay of colors. "Then, just use the color picker option in which the layer effects to change color.
